I am looking into upgrading my speakers and amping the front 6 1/2s and the rear 6x9s. right now I have Pioneer speakers they sound better than the stock but cut out sooner and can't really handle an amp hooked up to them. What do you guys suggest? I was looking into JBL speakers... the rears were around $200 for the set and the fronts were $160-170ish. That is the price range I want to keep. I want the best quality I can get for a low cost. The Pioneers will do 'till I have more money, but they aren't really what I want. Also what amp would you recommend for amping the speakers? I was looking into a 4-channel amp to amp all 4 speakers. The JBLs I found are nice, they have the titanium dome and all. Great sound, good power handling and low price are what I need. Thanks a lot for all opinions. Sites for said products would be greatly appreciated also. EDIT: Tweeters too, I had my eye on the JBL P25t'*.

I never suggest brands of audio.....you yourself must go and listen to many different brands and pick the one that sounds best to YOU....

OK, well Audiobahn looks good too. Can you tell me something about durability and power handling of the two makers mentioned...JBL looks better spec wise for wattage. Audiobahn looks to have better freq. response and sensitivity. What is more important really, power RMS or sensitivity and freq. response?

I have to agree with '93. Go with a component set if you can install them. Personally I would think you will like the sound quality better.

My next suggestion would be to install a nice set of speakers up front, amp them, and then chose if you really want to upgrade the rears. My buddy has 3 way 6x9'* in the back and I strongly dislike how it sounds like all the sound is comming from behind me. But that is another personal opinion thing.

By looking at sig'* you can see what people are running. I really like my set up, sound quality is there even at a loud volume but "to each his own". It will also depend on the type of music you listen too.

As for the tweeters. If you like the really high notes then go for the ones you like. I personally like "softer" less harsh highs. Which is the reason I got silk tweeters.

let us know what kind of music you like and how you like it. We should be able to give you size and style advice. Although, in the end, it is what YOU like.

Well, the component speaker set suggestion for the front is a great idea...I got to looking and Audiobahn has a nice set that really stomps the JBL speakers component or not. Silk dome tweeters like you said...I agree I like softer highs. You also make a good point about the rears making too much sound. Perhaps I should amp the speakers in the front only.

Are you using the stock HU? Do you plan to upgrade in the future?(if not already)

Personally I don't like audioban but don't let that change your mind, lots of people like their stuff.

Do you want to stay in the "known" brand names? or are you willing to stray from the normal?

I only have my fronts and subs amped. Which makes the rears "less loud" for lack of better terms. They still make enough midbass to "fit in".

I have an aftermarket HU it'* a JVC, plays MP3s. I don't care what brand as long as it'* reliable and the cost isn't too high. I'm looking for the best I can get for a reasonable amount of money. Like I said that entire set for me is like $200 but I'd be willing to go higher if it was worth it.
EDIT: The Audiobahn sets out-speced the JBLs but if Audiobahn is prone to blow or have other known problems I would go differently. I don't know a whole lot about this stuff yet.. I am learning though.

Audio is a LOT like other things in life, you get what you pay for. That doesn't mean that cheaper products will sound like crap.

My best advice would be to find something that you think you would like/and would be willing to purchase. Then google it and read EVERY review you can find. You will get a general idea on what they "sound" like by the descriptions that people write.

Just keep looking around, there are many different styles/speaker available.

I'm not looking for the greatest system, but I do want great. I have read good reviews on the Audiobahn equipment. It is definitely better than the Pioneer stuff I put in, and the price I found is discounted a good amout from full retail.
