Not BAD, but you can do much better. If you buy your speakers from Best Buy, I will come to your house and pour coolant in your oil

The 6x9'* look just like the ones I put in the Celebrity.
I also put in Pioneer 4x6'* up front.
I am very happy with the sound.
But, anything would have been a huge improvement over almost 20 year old factory speakers.
Personally recommend taking a CD you know well and like and try some different speakers to hear which ones you like.
10 different people can have 10 different opinions on what sounds good.
Of course, remember it will sound different in a car, and depending on the head unit.

It'* weird to have more powerful speakers (RMS) up front than in the back. In such a case, you can rarely ever hear your rear speakers. Also, those 6x9 Pioneers are really average speakers.
What type of sound are you looking to get? I got all Infinity speakers because I have woofers and don't need lows. Pioneers are good for covering the low range, but their tweeters aren't that good. Even with the 3-ways, you're not going to get such crisp highs. The best lows I've heard on smaller speakers were from Polk speakers. This doesn't actually mean that Pioneer is a good compromise, but rather that you won't get much of either of the good stuff.
Some of the best "compromise"-type speakers are Alpine Type-Es, Sonys, and Cerwin Vegas, if you can find them. But as it'* been mentioned, don't take anyone'* word for it. Find these speakers and see if you like the sound. It'* going to be a bit difficult with the CV, but Alpine probably has a lot of representation in the (Short) Circuit City and Best Buy stores.
Also, you can shop at Best Buy. No one will come kill you, but they tend to have higher prices. Besides, if you're going to buy Pioneers, or Sony speakers for that matter, Wal-Mart has them. Neither place is actually going to have comparable sound to the other because of the build quality, or the lack thereof, of the speaker boxes that make up the display.
So, who agrees with me?

What I'd like to point out is that if you want to go the Pioneer route for the solid voice coils and perhaps the name, just buy the cheaper ones at any big store like Wal-Mart because there'* not much difference until you get to the really high-end stuff. For example, look at that 40W RMS per channel rating for the 6x9 speakers! That'* weird. Stock replacement with Pioneers is good, but don't spend a lot of money.
In fact, for that price, go with Sony speakers. Really. I love Sony speakers, and I even have a pair for stuff around the house. They're really durable and surprisingly good at bass for what they cost. Also, they're cheaper than Pioneers and sound at least a little bit better.

well, here is the question, what type of music will you be listening to, and also are you going to install them yourself? if so you can find some sites which you can get speakers for much cheaper than retail stores.

wow thanks for all the advice. i actually decided to go with super generic speakers for now, im going to be getting a job at best buy and when that happens ill get half off, and free installation so i can get whatever i want for real cheap.
I usually listen to Indie, Folk, Indie Rock and when im in the mood Iron Maiden. the speakers i got sound just a little better then stock and thats all i really needed for now.

Super cheap huh?
Do they sound better than what you had?
Then, good enough for now right?
Very cool you're getting that job at Best Buy, I expect to hear of a much better system in the future
