Moved my compass thing
I finally got my stereo in. The compass was messed up from just the new 6x9'*. I moved the thing to the trunk lid. Even with the subs in now it is working fine. It was pretty easy to do. I lengthened the wires and ran them in the wire loom going up the side of the trunk lid for the latch. Just poked a couple holes in the carpet and used those plastic "tree" fasteners.

Yeah, I didn't think that just the 6x9'* would but the ones I put in have quit a bit larger magnets than the stock speakers. It would stay calibrated for day or so and then go out.

yah if you ever use dynamat and stuff like that for your trunk it completely kills the compass. i did that and had to move it into the car at the top of the back windshield but now its above the headliner so you cant see it. lots of wire extending.

Yeah, I thought about putting it under the carpet but the only easy way to attach it would be glue. I wasn't too hot on that idea. There is probably a way to run a cross member from the trunk lid stiffening beam things, other than that, as best as I can recall, there is nothing other than the sheetmetal of the lid itself. Might be able to hide it better under the carpet at a different position under the trunk lid, I dont remember too well.
