Well, I haven't replaced the system yet (too much other stuff to do) but I did get to the deck. In fact, my now "old deck" finished itself off last weekend. The cd player stopped working. So I went out today and picked up a new deck. I got the DEH-P4800MP by Pioneer.

I have noticed a HUGE difference in how my systems sounds with this new deck. My cheapo RF "buy one get one free" subs just gained some mad power from the built in sub adjustments. Now my neighbors have to worry about my exhaust and my stereo at 6am...lol

well my friend has 2 15" rockford fosgate subs runnin with a pretty good rockford fosgate amp but they dont put out even close to my 2 12" infinity perfects haha my system is actually louder than his and sounds a heck of alot cleaner so if you want really freakin low bass and and regular bass that you would expect from 12s with good sound quality go with perfects cuz they are really tight they are worth the money.

I always liked the Rockford fosgates subs, normally find 2 for $100, and their upper offerings POUND. Eclipse is another great company, also adire audio.

Decks are as varied an area as you can get, currently I own a JVC deck and it is the best deck I have ever owned, so many options I believe the model is JVC KD-SH55 it is well withing your budge (425 canadian with extra insurance and that was last year)anyway its motorized face, got a ton of eq settings plus three custom ones you can design which is good because in the setup I have I bought 6x9'* in the back that have awesome mids and highs and I send no bass to them and it all to the subs and it sounds very clean. There are so many quality brands out there that it really is your preference. For the love of god stay away from sony I have heard nothing but bad things and the pioneers with the beige cone. Not that they are bad speaks but they have heavy bass to them and if you have subs why do you need other bass. MY preference is JL but whatever you like, take everybodies preference listen to them all at the store and then make your own choice. About the type R'* they are great, amazing in fact but if you want to stay below 1500 you might have a tough time. Either way go with what you want for speakers and other parts but definatly check out the JVC deck cause you get everything you need and more for a cheap price. Good luck with your system and you have a lot of qualified people here so your are getting nothing but good advice.
