I went to replace my 6X9'* and I saw that the wire that was connecting the stock speakers had 4 wires (brown, yellow, green, and blue/white) not just 2 (positive and negative) sooo how do I hook my new woofers up?

Right front
Dark green = +
Light green = -

Left rear
Yellow = +
Brown = -

I might be backwrods on the polarity, because my book doesn't list it, so if it sounds like the polarity is backwords, just reverse the hookup.

The other wires are for the factory amp that is controlled by the little slider underneath your stock stereo. The factory speakers are a dual voice coil setup, and you can't use the other set of wires to my knowledge.

In the picture, the brown, yellow, green, and blue/white are all going to the same speaker, thats just the wiring for the left speaker your looking at. And I know all the wires are "active" (for lack of better word) because when I touched the wires from my new speaker to em i got sound. Could I just cut off the adapter/connector thing (the black piece), use just two of those wires, and save the other 2 for some other speakers? There is a hook up for the tweeters as well but that wire is sepperate and I think thats the wire that gets the amp because I touched the wires from my new speakers to that hook up and got even louder sound.

Are you still running the factory stereo? If so, that is why the amp is till on. I believe that with the normal GM harness adapters for aftermarket stereos the amp will not work unless you do more wiring.

I personally would cut the connector off the four wires, and wire up the speakers like I listed above. That is exactly what I did on my '93 SSEi, it has the same exact thing However, if you ever plan to hook the stockers back up to sell it, you may want to just splice into the wires and leave the factory connector there.

I believe the amp is more of a bass booster then anything, it only goes to the second voice coil on the stock rear speakers and nothing else.

Right, that is because the stock speaker is a dual voice coil. There is two positive and two negative wires going to it. Look at the back of the factory speaker and you will see two sets of wires going inside it.

What wiring would I need?

Ok so after snipping them off I should just use the Yellow and Brown? If I ever do end up selling the car I'll just sell the speakers too just to add a little more to the price and just go buy some new ones

To be honest with you, I really don't know what wiring would be needed, I never worried about it. I don't have aftermarket dual voice coil speakers, so I didn't need the amp. I am running Infinity Kappa 6X9s and cut the wires like I said above and it works great.

Just cut the wires, make sure the unused wires are out of the way and not hitting any metal and wire in the new speakers.

Wire in the new speakers like this:

Left rear
Yellow = +
Brown = -

Right rear
Dark blue = +
Light blue = -

Ok I got another question. Deals a little more towards cleaning of the speaker grills tho so Idk if I should ask her or put it in appearance. either way here it is. My speaker grills for my rear deck speakers are nasty looking. I just cleaned them using water and dish soap (waiting for them to dry to see how well it worked), my question is how good will Armor All Original Protectant work on the grills? Is it safe? Will it change the color of the grills?

I believe that there is also a thin layer of fabric between the metal outer grill and the plastic supports. That will get full of dust and look like crap also. It is there to keep dust and dirt away from the speakers.

As far as the armor all on the grill? I think it would work alright. Worst comes to worst, it doesn't work
