speaker wire (+) and (-) colors
can anyone tell me what is positive and negative...
i went with the lighter color being positive and it sounds like ****...
another question... dont most systems sound better with a closed trunk?
i am using 2 cheap 12'* in a bandpass right now (first bandpass, usually sealed) that i borrowed from a friend, and they get twice as loud if i pop the trunk...
and yes, bill, i looked in the service manual under: speaker, wiring, nothing came up

You got a pic of the bandpass? I've seen many boxes that are called bandpass that aren't bandpass. Thats why i'm asking for a pic.
Does the box take up all the room between your strut towers?
Do the ports face the tail lights or the speaker deck?
What size and how many ports?
All these factor in on why the sound changes when you open the trunk. It all has to do with the pressure caused by speakers and how it'* put into the trunk by the ports.

If it sounds better with the trunk open you're out of phase. Look on your speaker connectors, are they marked with a little "A" and a little "B"? I know 99% of the gm cars were. If they are, "B" is +, "A" is -.

Theres the reason. Your ports are muffled by your rear deck. When you open your trunk, your making it easier for air to move, therefore your speakers are moving more and your getting more bass.
Here'* a test. If you got a video camera, put it the trunk (with the system on) with the light or nightvision on and close the trunk. Then open the trunk and watch the tape. You'll see a huge difference in how much the subs move.
Oh, and why is the remote gain control in the trunk?
