Default MP3 Player Gurus

Finally stepped up and got a Creative Zen Sleek Photo MP3 player.

Got the Kenwood MP828 HU with RCA auxillary inputs.

I'm looking to use the Zen in the car on trips etc and am looking for the best way to hook up. I assume it'* via the RCA''*? As well ...if you know of any kits or packages that make it better or easier, please suggest them.

Thanks

I use one like the top one.

advantage is that ANY mp3 player or device with an audio out can connect to my stereo As opposed to device specific kits

You're best off (IMO) getting a CD changer input > RCA input adapter, or an aftermarket HU with an aux in. I don't believe there are many (if any) that have zen hookups.. One reason I went with the iPod is the support my car-fi manufacturers.

I also believe Denison ICElink has a setup, but it may be iPod only.

boosty has a Kenwood aftermarket HU. which has the RCA aux inputs. The advantage of RCA to 1/8 is that you can hook any portable device up to it....laptop, any mp3 player, portable dvd player, the list goes on....

ipod itegration is nice if you would rather control it via the HU, although ipods are WAY over rated to begin with, IMO.

iPods are kinda proclaimed to be more then they are, but they are very elegant IMO functional/simplicity wise. somewhat overpriced and scratch prone, but it'* nice.

Yes, I went with the 1/8" stereo to dual RCA'* as Corvette suggested and can now play one thing in the front speakers and something else out the back speakers.. (I'm waiting to pull that on someone..lol)

I was also looking to integrate a bit more...however...the current configuration supplies plenty of good tunes...

Great start. Now custom fab a dock or mount in an easily accessible place, something to hide and secure the wiring. Paint everything exposed with SEM to match the dash. Maybe a hardwired charger? I will look around online later today for ideas. I used a computer dock for my ipod in my car, i'm sure creative has something similar you can work with. especially knowing your skill with custom fab and jb weld.

For iPods there are a few products that plug into the dock connector to charge it from a DC power source, and use the dock connector signal as a line out as well, all in one cable. It cleans up visible cabling, and helps you hide everything behind the dash.

Is this also being used outside of the car much? Or is it more for a HD based car solution?
