Ok im trying to figure out how to fine tune my amp but its one thing in car audio that i cant understand. My amps low pass filter is 45 to 200 HZ, it has a pre set subsonic filter of 18 DB/octave @20 hz. It has a bass boost frequency which is 32 to 64 hz, and then a bass boost which is 0 to 9.5 DB. And im trying to push two alpine type r 12s and their frequency response is 23-500 hz.And i have no idea what to set these settings at.

Do you have an amp or amps to drive the rest of the system? If you do, I would set the crossover on all amps to 100hz, the sub-sonic filter is preference, try it with it on, if you like it, leave it on, if not, turn it back off. The bass boost is preference also. try it at different settings until you find one you like, if you don't like it at all, leave it off. Just because its there doesn't mean you have to use it.

If you only have the sub amp, I would set the crossover to 80 hz, the rest still applies.

id say turn any bass boost off. its part of the setting the gains and that. ported box? and if so what tuning?

set the crossover at 80hz. turn the bass boost off when you set the crossover and gain. set the subsonic filter at about 27-30 and if you dont feel like you are getting enough ouput then set the bass boost to be at around 35hz. that will be where your subs will get the most action anyway. The human ear cant really hear anything below 25hz and if you go above 35hz you will lose your bottom end. hope this helps

The subsonic filter on this amp is preset and cannot be turned off, its part of eclipse'* ICE power which cleans up distortion.Right now everything is turned up on the amp, the only reason for that is that as i turned everything up it started to sound better. The low pass filter is all the way up to 200 and bass boost is all the way up. To give you an idea of the problem im having, if any of you have every heard the song Put On by young jeezy. The three big bass notes in that song, my system only picks up that first big one and thats it, it drives me nuts it hits every other bass note.

From what i gather from this and your other post about your box size is that your box is too big for the driver. Sub-woofers in boxes that have to much internal volume sound BOOMY. One note wonders is what i call them. Get the driver in the right size box, turn the cross-over down to 80Hz and lessen the bass-boost. It should be a rockin' system. To make a box the right size is easy. To get the right dims all you need to do is L X W X H then divide that number by 1728. So 14 x 13 x 7 Divided by 1728 is .737 cubic feet, just as an example.

Thats exactly what it is, a one hit wonder. Im gunna get a new box and see what happens.
