what do you think of receiver?
While browsing Crutchfeild I came across this receiver, its seems to be pretty powerful (23.5 watts RMS) for the money, and I like that its MP3 capable. Well what do you guys think is Aiwa a good brand or should I spend a little more for a Pioneer or Kenwood?
Let me know what you think.

I personally dont know anything about the AIWA brand but there is only one set of preouts, and they are probable a low voltage if you decide to connect amps later. I think that there are better headunits in that price range

AIWA is a sister company of sony.. Usually lower end products with lots of flash appeal..
I would stay clear of it no matter how much it costs..
Go to ebay you can get a nice kenwood deck, alpine deck, pioneer deck for the same price..
Crutchfield = Over priced.. Way Over priced..

All decks are relatively the same output wise. Before you add in sound shaping, loudness, etc. I suggest choosing decks based off of these criteria.
Price Range
Features you want
How you like the buttons/menu'* etc. This is the key for a lot of people.
Obviously i'm not suggesting that a $50 cd player special is as good as a $700 clarion, but a reciever amp is an amp. It'* all the other stuff you should look at.
Aiwas aren't bad by any means, they're Sony'* "test bed" per se. They try out new things with Aiwas if they're not sure how the market will respond.

OK an amp isnt just an amp
thats like saying a porsche and a bonneville are the same since there just cars..
you get what you pay for.. High end decks have less thd(harmonic distortion)
cheaper amps in cheaper radios will begin sending distortion to the speakers sooner due to the fact there cheap.. Plain and simple.. Distortion is bad, Distortion kills speakers, and thats why 90% of the people when I listen to there systems sounds like dirt,,
Your reciever is the single most important piece of the puzzle.. You can have JL W7'* and Arc Audio amps but with out a decent deck all your doing is amplifieing distorted signals
I cant stress this enough dont buy a cheap head unit.. You will regret it..
in closing AN AMP IS NOT JUST AN AMP..
