My HU had enough room and sits nicely. I believe other members have dremelled some of the plastic out from behind the radio.

go to best buy, they make an adapter plate that makes it flush, and also gives you a handy storage compartment...

I was there two days ago to buy everything to install one into my mom'* car. since before that she had no CD player. Worked pretty well. Although 45 in parts just to install it myself really sucks.

I had the same thing with mine. In my case there was an install kit in my car when i got it, with no radio in it. The tab behind the factory radio that i guess that little plastic pin slides in was getting in the way of my new HU, but i just took a hacksaw and cut it off flush with the tray below the radio. Worked like a charm, but the wires still have to tuck off to the side. Your'* could be different though because mine'* an '87.

Ok...I just pulled my new HU out of my 95 and put it into the 97. Changes that were needed included cutting that little piece of plastic from behind the radio.

It depends on the kit that you use to install the radio. I believe Scosche makes a kit (I think I used them) that will flush mount the radio. Others, like Metra sells kits that make the radio stick out. You will have to cut off that little tab in the back that some guys have mentioned about but its not a big deal...

I used the dremel tool while CFoote was touching up the chips in the two cars.
