Default Interface Module, Monsoon/Bose w/OnStar

I'm curious about what sort of interest there might be if it'* possible to come up with an aftermarket interface for vehicles with Bose/Monsoon and OnStar. As I'm sure everyone is aware, this has been a bit of a hot topic with the lack of performance from the Metra GMOS-09 side of things. I'm tossing around a few ideas. I don't mind trying to help out with this but since I have no use for one myself, I don't want to invest an excessive amount of time and effort if there isn't much interest.

There may be an option, but it could be a little costly. Quite possibly in the 225.00 - 250.00 range. I have to check on parts and availability, but I may just have a solution.

Thoughts will be appreciated.

Default Sign me up RIGHT now

If you're doing it, I'm in. Bluetooth, iPod integration, and whatever else you can think of to throw in there is great.

I have managed to get some of the parts required. Still working on sourcing a couple of items though. Once I have everything and can perform a few tests, I'll be able to post more progress information. I don't want to go too crazy with details until I can verify this works (although based on past projects and knowledge, I'm relatively confident it will be successful).

Ideally I'd like to find an Alberta member I can meet with to test this on a GXP or SSEi. Alternatively if I'm able to make it to any meets and there is another member who is interested, I'm good with that.

I'm reluctant to try this on my own car, only because I don't have an aftermarket deck to connect but mainly because my nav unit is a real PITA to get back in once it'* out.

Just thought I'd check and see how the project was coming. If I were closer, I'd offer up my car as the guinea pig.

Default Installed my Kuda USA phone pad today

I like it! Holds a wireless device, iPod, or GPS device. Snaps in place, very secure, covered in faux leather that looks just like the fabric in my GXP. Has a factory-ish look, far better than anything that plugs into the cigar lighter or gloms onto the dash.

Now, I just need for that uber cool iPod/bluetooth integration device (whistles ever so innocently)

That'* a nice looking car!

Still working on the interface. I'm trying to find a Canadian dealer that sells the part I need and doesn't want an arm AND leg for payment (only willing to part with one). I've also been on very light duty recently, which has hampered progress a little.

I may just order the item from the US. It just gets costly with shipping, brokerage, etc. Not giving up hope though

Perhaps you could provide a US owner with the part number and from whence to obtain it, and invite said highly motivated US owner to acquire the part and ship it to you as a gift...

Just an idea I've been pondering since I first seen this thread.

Would it be possible and maybe even easier to take and existing module made by PAC, Periphrial or Metra and modify it to work.

Could you maybe chop the plug off of the module and rewire it with a harness adapter that matches your in car connector.
I guess you would also need to have a way to pass the Databus signal and other computer related signals onto the factory amp etc. as well.

Just throwing out an idea,
Regards,
Dutch
