Default wiring install (with 14 pics, 56K just go to the library)

ahh yes, the excitment of a new system...

i just bought all the wiring today, cost me about $100 for the good stuff, so i decided to not let it go to waste, and do it TODAY

the car being ripped apart

rough draft of the power wire placement

power wire (4 gauge) running through firewall on drivers side, through shifter opening

power wire coming into car through firewall

drivers side floor...you can see the power wire and the remote turn on wire here

power and remote wire going under seat (didnt have to remove seat, coat hangers work wonders)

power and remote wire coming in trunk on drivers side

dismanted trunk with lots of junk in it

dual shielded blue rca cable running under back seat

all the trim pieces (nothing broke coming out! YAY)

everything coming into place up front

CLUTTER!

MORE CLUTTER!!

battery connector doesnt fit on the big bolt...ill have to get something else

i started the install at about 4pm, and got everything all cleaned up around 2am. that included eating and BSing. it went very good and im happy with the results. since i got done at 2am, i cant really take anymore pics till tomorrow morning.

again, this project was strictly wiring, there is nothing hooked up, but it sure as heck is ready for it. as soon as i get my sub box made things will be bumpin

hopefully i can get step by step pics of the sub and amp install also

sorry...i forgot to take pics at 3am

i didnt put the fuse in till last because i wanted to make 100% sure thats where the wiring was going to stay.

until i get my new optima battery, this is how i have to hook it up because of the large bolt size on the other one

Whew! Much better. I probably would have mounted the fuse holder exactly where you did...easy to get at, looks cool, etc.

Heresy
MECP says you should fuse 12" from the battery while IASCA allows up to 18". Really the shorter you can do it, the better.
This quote is from an audio forum. Now most might consider placement of the fuse and holder nit-picking but if you entered a competition, points would be duducted from your score. Just something to think about if in the future your system grows.

Or put it this way. If that wire burns, everything under it will too. Including your fuse area.

Here'* the spot I use. That point is wired directly to the battery, and you can use the end that came on the wiring. That end won't fit on an Optima, either
