Default car alarms

Jjust wondering what kind everyone has, If any. I think someone tried to break in my car by prying my door handle off. I noticed it while drying inside the doorhandle today. might be my imagination. I know on S10s you can pop the door handle right off. With ares i think its the same way. Any suggestions on alarms??

Good insurance will probably do more for you. Unfortunately no alarm will keep someone from breaking into your car, it'll just make it noisy when they do. If you want the deterrent effect, just buy and mount an LED strip to make it look like you have an alarm.

P.*. If someone has tried to force entry to your door, file a police report. There may be similar incidents around your town that yours can be linked to. Heck, maybe they even caught the person already and you can get reimbursed for any damages! A long shot, but possible...

I get a discount too, but it'* only 15% off my Comprehensive coverage (which amounts to a small discount, although every bit counts)... yes I did actually have an alarm and power locks installed in my '69 Executive.

What'* REALLY cool is how many alarm "brains" can be used to trick out vehicle electronics. On mine, I had it programmed so I can activate my auxilary horn ("Dixie" air horns, General Lee style) by pressing two buttons simultaneously. My installer (who had a bright red 1995 SSE by the way) had his set up so he could leave his windows down and arm the alarm. If someone stuck their hand or arm in the window, a motion sensor would kick in and automatically raise all the windows. OUCH!

I have a Omega auto start alarm pager, which is good for a half mile. It costs around $600 installed. An additional remote with screen costs $125 alone! I can put my windows up or down with my remote. I aslo have a battery backup in case they cut my line to the battery. The only way to shut that off is destroy the srien or with the key that comes with the alarm. Another nice feature is the microphone inside the car. If someone gets in the car without setting the alrm off and stats making noise that it will trip the alarm.(higher db'* no low db'* like bass) Expensive but awsome to have.

I've got the Viper 791 for my 97... its really nice... only downside I find it'* range isn't as great as the CompuStar I have for my 91.... but the Viper has a lot of options the CompuStar doesn't.
