I found the 5 1/4 componets for 140 shipped to my house and the 6x9 for aroudn 120 shipped to my house. At the store i would pay or 450 for both of them so i think i got a good deal. Im just looking for a daily driver. I got myself a 2003 model alpine headunit so i think it will work well for these.

I think alpine sucks and is over rated. A kenwoo deck will out perform an alpine deck ANYTIME. I am fond of the sub Type R though. As you can see in my sig I have one (it was VERY cheap) and it sound very nice for the price. I would not recommend these for competition. For the money , I can do alot better than alpine.

i disagree about a kenwood deck beating a alpine deck. I also had a 12" type R in a 1.0 custom box. bumped pretty nice and clean off XTANT watts

Default Alpine

I disagree about the Kenwood HU. I haven't found any Kenwood HU'* that I like as much as Alpine. Or get the performance and options out of like an Alpine. Alpine and Eclipse are probably the two best HU'* out theyre. (Well Denon If you can find them). I would put Pioneer Premier, And Kenwood as second.

I do agree that Alpine Type R subs are def not for comps. They couldent do SQE because too many better drivers. And maybe SQ contests. But I still think theyre are better choices for that (Infinity perfects. W7, Boson Pro'*).

But for a daily driver they should be fine. If you don't like them you can always change them. (Heck I do mine every 2 months or so. Never satisfied always want more =).

How can you compare W7 in the same category their like the god of subs.

I was comparing them as far as SQ. They get great SQ. Theyre not the GOD of subs lol .

They may be the Demi-God of subs lol. Theyre are better subs in my opinon than the W7. I would Rather have an Inhuman by Beyond Audio. Or an XXX From ReSPL. Than a W7. Theyre WAY too pricy. And you have to buy them from a JL dealer or else they have NO warranty. So in my opinion theyre are better choices. I know an Inhuman or a XXX can easily hang with a W7. And be cheaper. Heck for the price you could get a nice set of Strokers, Shockers, MASS, Brahmas, that would outperform a W7. And probably still be cheaper for the both of them.

The ONLY Legit argument I have heard for the W7 is that it saves space. So if you want to spend 600-1000 bucks to save space I guess you have a lot more money than I do. I would rather get 2 Brahmas and out pound yah =P (Actually my next investment is going to be a set of dual 2 ohm ReSPL XXX'*).

What can you really use for comp decks? I've only had sony when I had comps. I haven't seen the in years with a GREAT ES model.
I speak from experience and facts. kenwoods do the same and better in all catagories and cost
They have better system'* Q control and their built in crossovers have better slopes. Now Alpie has the ugliest faces I've seen yet. Horrible color displays.
I am a MTX man through and through. For subz and amps. Tehy have a great and clean selection. JL is another great brand for amps nd subz. MB quart for all midrange needs .
We could speak of the Mcintosh amps but who cares about class A amplification, I DO!
Those are great.

The Alpine has all kinds of options for ballance control on them. I love the crossover control on them. Ill admit I like the 7984. But I wish It was blue instead of green. I really don't like the green face myself. But everything else looks good. The Eclipse are great because some of their HU have 8V preouts on them. So I can get the best possible Signal Quality to my amps. Im not saying Kenwood is bad. I just think that these two are better. And easier to use. Ive seen my friends Kenwood. And it has a lot of options. But the menus are so hard to navigate he doesnt even use them! lol.

Sony doesn't even factor into car audio. The ONLY thing they make thats "Ok" is their head units. And I still would not ever even own one of those.

Mcintosh amps are really good. But Cost is too much. If im going to spend that much on amps I would still prefer Zapco.

Not Big on MTX. Ive seen some people at work and shops with them and even their top of the line just don't seem to bump as well as some of the mid and low line of other manufactuers. (Subs). But I do agree their amps are pretty awesome little packages. I don't own one right now but If I had the need and opportunity I wouldent mind owning an amp from them.

I agree , sony suck with pretty much everything , but they gad a head unit with no onboard amp, great audio control and it was great , the first with an organic display , talking 5 yers ago. ran for about 2k
