I have one in the '93. This thing is a monster. LOVE IT, with just one of them in a sealed box and a 600 watt rms @ 1 ohm amp it is crazy. It is pretty nice to stand outside of your car and watch the whole roof flex up and down I would REALLY like to build a slot port box for it this spring
I have the dual 2 ohm voice coil version.

I honestly wouldn't go to Best Buy, unless you can find one for cheap, which, in my experiences, is just about impossible at Best Buy.
You can find them all day long on Ebay for dirt cheap, but with no warranty.
I bought mine from a local stereo shop for $250 in a VERY sturdy sealed box. Also came with a full factory warranty. Not sure if it is one or two years though.
Oh, and petraman... My amp was only about half way up

Well, I can't give an actual db rating, I can tell you that it is, IMHO, well worth the money. I can't imagine one in a slot port box though I will build one up for mine this spring / summer.
I can tell you also that it is louder then a pair of Rockford Fosgate HE2 12" subs on the same amp, also louder then a single 12" Power Acoustik Fubr sub in a huge box. I also have had a pair of Directed 15" subs in this car that this Alpine blows away.
About the only system I have had that was louder doesn't really count because it was in a *-10 Blazer, but that was a Directed 600d.1 ( same amp ) and a pair of Rockford Fosgate HE 15" subs..... With all the room inside that Blazer, the sound was just ridiculous. I could hardly drive down the road with it up because it actually distorted my vision

I have a 12" Type R in a 2.3 cu. ft. ported box tuned to 31 hz. It'* awesome. Plenty loud and hits all the lows beautifully. You will love it.
