Default Factory Installed CD Player Problem!!

Hello - I am hoping someone here can help me! Here is my saga:

I took my car in to be serviced on Thursday evening to a local Goodyear. The rear struts needed to be replaced. They kept the car overnight and finished the car on Friday.

When I went to pick up the car, the CD player was not working, and it had been playing on the way over to their establishment. I asked them what was wrong with it. With a little prodding, I was told that the mechanic left my keys in the ignition overnight in the 'on' position and drained the battery. The system is computerized and it shut off a variety of systems, to include the radio/cassette/CD player. They recharged the battery. The radio part of the unit is working.

There is and was a CD in the CD player. I am wondering if the CD player was playing over and over again all night since the key was in the 'on' position. If so, could this have caused the CD player to burn out or blow or fuse or whatever?

Well, anyway, I took the car back to Goodyear today. They said that they called the dealership (so had I), and the dealership thought that the CD player "just happened to fail."

Goodyear used needlenose pliers to remove my CD. The unit is not working. I'd have to replace the entire system to the tune of about $450. Goodyear even ran a diagnostic scan and nothing came up on it for them to reset.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Do you think that the CD player might magically start working again?

The car is a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville SE with low mileage (about 37,000 miles). I hardly play the CD player or anything else. Heck, I hardly even drive the car!

If there is a fuse I can check or manually reset something, please let me know! TIA!

Does have a Bose system in it? Does it have the CD AND TAPE player units both in one or just CD player? I can get you one for a good price. Let me know.

It is the one that the factory put in it. I doubt that it is a Bose, but I don't know. The dealer told me that the audio unit is one unit. That includes the radio, cassette tape and CD player.
