Default 5 1/4" to 6" front speakers

In my front doors my stock size for speakers is 5 1/4 inches, I would like to upgrade from my Alpines to either 6" sony xplods or 6" polk audio. Im wondering if theres a way I can get a 6" speaker to fit? Is there a special harness I can get to fit them like I know you can for the rear 6x9s or am I going to have to cut out a bigger hole?

now thats funny. whats wrong with the alpines? ive got the polk 6.5s and they sound a little flat in the lower to mids, i think its because i dont have a good amp right now. the point is if you have an amp they will probably be good but if not that may be your problem with the alpines. let us know what you got so we can help you better.

I found out from a buddy at work that i can get a harness that will let me hold the 6.5" (that 6" was a typo)..

The reason I was saying sony Xplod is because that is what I have for rear speakers and they are excellent, they are the only part of my system that I havent had to replace.. and they sound really good in my friends truck.. the alpines are just ****. The first month I had them the lows killed them there was clicking because they couldnt handle the bass.. I got them replaced and put condensers on them and now anytime i play my stereo really loud it cuts out because of the damn condensers.. they are terrible you can barely hear them. I'm probably going with Polk Audio 6.5" because they sound excellent in my buddys truck you can hear them clear across the shop parking lot lmao.

Stereo- JVC KD-HDR30

Subwoofers- 2 Kenwood - 12" 4-Ohm Single-Voice-Coil Subwoofer Model: KFC-W3012

Amp- Alpine - 500W Class D Mono MOSFET Amplifier with Adjustable Crossover Model: MRP-M500

Front Speakers-Alpine - Type-* 5-1/4" 2-Way Coaxial Car Speakers with Poly-Mica Cones Model: SPS-500

Rear Speakers- Sony Xplod xs-GT6935A 3 way 6x9" 300 watt speakers

Theres no amp connected to the speakers just the subs. I want to use the alpine amp that i have on my subs right now for my speakers since im replacing the subs amp, but im told since its mono that I cant do that?

well ur not supposed to give ur interior speakers much bass at all. just enought not to leave a baldspot in your midbass, adjust ur crossovers, and turn down the bass reaching ur interiors.

If ur saying Sonys sound better than the Alpines, something is wrong

you should get a 4ch. amp that has adjustable high pass filters and set them to 80hz cutoff (the freq spec is 80-22,000 Hz) 50w rms per channel will work with the alpines, the 6x9'* and the polks if you decide to get them.

the mono sub amp wont work with your other speakers because its designed for subs. ( not stereo, only low pass filter, etc )

cheaper speakers generally sound better than good, more powerful speakers when not using an amp.

Those alpines blew before I got subs, now that I have 2 12 inch subs im not too worried about bass. The alpines just dont perform well for me. I have my fader at 0 meaning the front or rear isnt suppose to be any louder than the other, but I still get more sound out of the back. I tested them by putting all the sound to the front to see how loud they actually are and its **** poor, the sound isnt full and for being such a good name in audio I am not impressed by them at all. My car came with the Concert Sound II package and the stock speakers out perform the alpines in my opinion. So I think upgrading to a 6.5" speaker would balance out my sound a little better, and give me that full sound. There are some songs that I play where the bass just overpowers them soo bad.

Thank you for the wiring advice I'll probably wait on an amp until I know a little more about wiring. I'm a noobie when it comes to wiring.. I learned my lesson letting Best Buy wire my subs they did the STUPIDEST thing to them that I am going to fix myself when I order my new amp for the subs. They put the pos and neg from the amp to the right sub and then ran the pos and neg to the left sub from the right sub, instead of from the amp itself.. so basically my right sub is hitting half a second before the left..

thats how your sopposed to wire a mono amp actually. and the reason that the sony speakers sound better is like i said the alpines dont have the power and filters they are designed for. the polks will be even worse because they are higher power than the alpines. the sony speakers are more of a stock replacement so they are less powerful and sound better with just the power of your head unit
