Default XM Direct on 2004 SE: Can I use the TERK XMDGM100 Kit?

I'm trying to find a solution to tie the XM radio into the factory radio on my 2004 SE... I am not sure, however, if I can use the TERK XMDGM100 kit to do this. Has anyone done this?

Here'* a link to the GM XM Direct system... does not explictly say that it works with a Bonneville... that'* why I'm curious to hear if anyone has got this to work or if anyone has another idea. It does say it works with GM Class II radios. My car has a CD player, and I've got to say, as far I can tell, it looks identical to the CD player radio that I saw in another 2004 BOnnevile that I test drove with an XM radio.

Default Probably won't work

I have a 2004 SE as well and I've been looking all over for a way to easily hook-up XM. However on the back of my radio the only inputs are the factory "dock and lock" harness and the antenna jack. I'm sure your radio is similar if you don't have on-star, XM or the monsoon system like me. I think the cars listed on that page probably have the additional input on the back on the radio. I think the 02+ Bonneville, Auroa, and the LeSabre have the dock and lock set-up that makes replacing the factory radio difficult because the radio controls the door chimes and a few other systems. My plan now is to replace the factory system, and rewire the deck to the trunk to keep the chimes and everything. Then I'll just use an aftermarket HU that'll be XM ready. Seems the best way I've found so far.

You're right. THat probably is the best way and it'* how I'll be doing it on my aurora as well. Except I wont' be rewiring the factory radio into the trunk. I don't care if I lose the door chimes. I will lose my onstar though. :(

The factory dock and lock on the Aurora. (if some of you haven't seen dock n' lock before)

welcome to the horror of owning a 2000+ and wanting to upgrade the stereo. The stock radio is about 2" shorter than most aftermarket decks too, so that entire back section of the dash has to be cut out to install an aftermarket player. This means the stock one cannot easily be reinstalled once you do that. :(

Thanks for the feedback. It looks like the following vehicles have dock and lock

2000-2004 Bonneville
2000-2004 LaSabre
2000-2004 Aurora

Good grief!
