Factory AC Delco / Bose system in 97 SSEi
Hi Everyone,
This is my first question here, so I hope someone has some ideas.
I have the 97 SSEi with the AC Delco Radio/Cassette and the Bose amp and speakers. The rear speakers sound terrible, low volume and crackling or low bass. The front speakers sound 'tinny' with no bass.
I replaced the 4 channel Bose amp that lives under the dash and there was no change. I cant see anything wrong with the speakers, both rear speakers sound the same.
I am assuming it must be the Radio/Cassette unit with a bad internal amp, but I am not sure. Anyone have any ideas ?
I can get a new one for $179 on sale, but I would hate to spend more money and not fix the problem.
I would appreciate any help. Maybe someone would want to swap a new Bose 4 channel amp for a new OEM AC Delco radio cassette/cd ?????
Thanks for the awesome forum.
Andrew

Yeah it sounds like the internals are fried on your current HU.... Maybe you could go with an aftermarket HU.... or are you going for a factory look?.. There are some good HU'* for under 170 bucks... w/cd

I just picked up a recon head unit, the same model and it basically sounds the same. I also got a new Bose Amp and it didnt change things.
It is a Bose system, but the rear speakers say ACDelco on them. Is there someone out there that has the 97 SSEi or similar with a Bose system ? I need to know the Bose part numbers off the rear speakers. Its a 2 wire speaker setup.
I would love help on this one.
Thanks,
