Default Where to hook up power for int. neon?

Where is the easiest place to get to to hook up the power supply for int, neons? I have 2- 10", 1-12" and a 20" ... the 10'* and 20 are hooked together already and the 12 is a cig lighter plug.

Later, Mike

Where are they going? You could splice into the cig lighter wire going through the console. Its easy to get to, at least. There'* also power going to the power seat motors. I'm also spliced into the power going to the radio.

Well, I have a column shifter/bench seat.

But I planned on putting the 2 small ones in the footwell on eachside, the biggest one under the rear seat and I'm not sure that I'll use the cig lighter plug one.

Do you want these things on while driving? If not, just use the power going to the footwell lights. That way they come on when you open the door, as they should, IMO.

I wouldn't use the Cig lighter or any other circuit that is close to maximum draw limits.

Go to the ignition harness and tap the Primary Ignition wire or 12 volt constant. Use a fuse, relay and a switch. The relay will protect the switch so that it doesn't get burned out.

Wire the relay as follows:

pin 85 - Primary Ignition or 12 volt
Pin 86 - to Toggle switch
pin 30 - 12 volt constant (Place the fuse on this wire)
pin 87 - 12 volt feed wire to neons
pin 87a - Not used

The other wire from your switch goes to ground.

Wired this way the switch is isolated and very low ground current is passing through the switch, this will prolong the life of it.

Regards,
Dutch

Neons use very little power. My entire 5 tube, 6000 volt underbody system is rated to draw 0.5 amps. He'll be fine.

My bad, I didn't realize the draw was so low.

Even though the draw is low, I would still tap the Ignition harness as it is more suitable for power source for adding accessories.

Tap which ever power wire is closest. If you have an amp and subs you could run off that power line.
