Default WIZAIRED CAI

can we fit a wizaired cai to our cars (2000 ssei) and
do you believe the claims made in the head to head testing?
it sounds to good to believe but hell i'm no scientist.

That thing looks like a total ghetto piece of crap. It is nothing more than a piece of flexible dryer vent over a rubber hose and clamped onto a cone filter, with the IAS poked through the side!

http://easyperformance.com/CAI/CAI_Features.htm

I guess if someone is looking for a low-cost alternative, they could look at the pics and build it themselves after a trip to Home Depot.

p.*. rrounds, this is in no way a poke at you. I am just upset that a company would try to mass-market a slap job like that.

That Home Depot dryer duct turns me off completely. You want smooth wall pipe at the very least.

You can make that sucker for 20 bucks. Trust me. Look at my sig pic.

ZZPerformance is a valid supplier of 3800 parts, at least aside from the wizaired piece-of-crap. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. At least now our group can react to it accordingly.

I also was not impressed by the pictures I have seen of it. But I have also seen a few of those boxes in person, and it is a very nice box that looks nice in real life (aside from the dryer duct). It is IMHO one of the, if not the best CAI available for GTP'*. I know the designer/manufacturer of those boxes personally, and he is a very nice guy that wouldn't make anything that looked or performed bad. If you saw his car you would understand. He has a LOT of aftermarket stuff on his car, and almost all of it looks factory. All of the claims are true, and trust me, you have to see this box in person to understand what I am talking about. I don't believe any of the negative comments stated about this box in this thread to be true except for comments made about the dryer duct, which is very easily fixed.

If you want to say how bad you think a product is, it helps if you have actually seen it before first.

No intention to ruffle feathers here.....my comment was strictly related to the dryer duct. I think a professionally offered product should offer more. The quality of the box may be superior to anything out there, but the dryer duct detracts from it.

Kinda like putting 1992 Mercury Villager wheels on a GXP.

First of all, noone has said anything about the "box". We all got hung up on the dryer duct and rubber hose with a hole poked in it.

Well...it sounds like this guy has to start marketing his box to all the the vendors that are selling CAI kits for $100 or more over the price of the pipe and filter alone . And while he is at it, he should quit making pipes and start buying rice intakes from the local auto parts store and combining them with his box for a complete kit for under $200. Which is it going to be?

I don't believe you were talking about just the dryer hose there, by reading those it sounds like you are talking about the hole box.

The box works very well, and functions just as they say it does. It keeps IAT within 5 degrees of ambient air temperatures at all times, and flows a lot of air. Wizbang (the maker of the box) runs high 14'* in his Grand Prix GT (that would mean NON-Supercharged) with minimal mods with the help of this box. Zooomer has run a best of 11.06 running the box, so it seems to flow enough air, and the air seems to be cold enough.

You guys can say what you want about the box, but I think it would just be a good idea to see the product in person before calling it a total piece of crap. It functions just as they say, and has proven to be the best CAI currently available for w-body cars. If you don't want the box, fine, don't buy it, but without having ever seen the box before I don't think it makes any sense to tell other people not to buy it because it looks like a piece of crap in the pictures you have seen.

OK, Shawn, I'll bite...what does one of these setups cost? I couldn't find any pricing info on it, just all the tech stuff. If it is priced reasonably, i.e. proportionally to tuned pipe/molded plastic models, I may elevate it from "piece-of-crap" status to "economy".

Have a Merry Christmas!
