You prob need to be looking at a short to voltage, short to ground, or high resistance on one of the wires. The black is a low refrence ground, the gray is a 5 volt refrence i would start there!

sorry took so long to get back i took the egr valve off and made sure the lines were clear and the pintle moved it did, so i put sealer and a gasket on to make sure it will not leak, then my buddy used his scanner to check out the computer and he can open and close the egr valve with it so im guessing that it has good power going to it.........i just want this light gone lol

Start checking the wires for a short or open circuit.
EGR
Black Signal ground
Brown EGR pintle position signal
Gray EGR valve control
Pink EVAP system
Gray 5 volt reference

Measure the voltage from the 5 volt reference circuit of the EGR position sensor to the ground circuit of the EGR position sensor.
Does the DMM display voltage near the specified value?
is it 5 volts

do this before previous post
Turn OFF the ignition.
Disconnect the EGR valve.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Use a scan tool in order to observe the EGR position sensor parameter.
Does the scan tool indicate that the EGR Position Sensor is at the specified value? 0%
perform test from previous post only if 0%
let me know results

The gray wire is the reference voltage. Connect the Red probe from your DDM to the reference voltage wire and the black to ground.
