Default wipers don't return all the way to the rest position

I just bought an '02 Park Avenue Ultra. The windshield wipers don't go all the way to the rest position. They seem to work ok, they just don't go all the way back down to the guide stops.

I removed the cap on the driver side wiper arm and removed the nut thinking that the arm would be mounted on a toothed nut or something to allow positioning of the arm, but the arm didn't seem to want to lift up and I didn't want to break anything so I left it as it was and reinstalled the nut and the cap.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

Remove the cap and the nut, and pry up on the bottom of the arm near the pivot point to remove it. Reposition as desired, and reinstall. It is a press fit over a splined pin, and needs a little force to break it free. A small gear puller works as well. Don't use the glass as a pry point.

Dan is referring to the linkages that connect the wiper motor to the wiper arms. They are located under the cowl screen. You may be able to simply reposition the wiper on the splined shaft to get what you want.

I took another look last night. Couldn't find my gear puller, and still wasn't able to pull the passenger side arm up, so I pushed the arm toward the base of the windshield and it moved a little (maybe 1/4" or so) and then I turned on the wipers for 1 cycle, and to my surprise, they parked in the correct position, so the problem appears to be fixed, at least for now.
