Default Insane GM parts pricing

I have a 2003 Bonnie SE with the steel wheels (w/wheel covers). I want to get another set of 16 in mags for my summer tires and I'm quoted $800 CDN ($600US). The steel wheels are $280CDN !

I used to work for Mercedes where the wheels cost 1/2 as much!!

I figure it is a way for GM to make big bucks off the insurance industry.
My rant for today

It'* well known that GM'* pricing on their aluminum rims is outrageous. You'd be better off looking for a used set here, or from a Grand Prix, or if you want new you can llok here;

Welcome aboard by the way...another Montréaler arives

Rims ARE bad from them. But you'll find just about everything else is quite reasonable for pricing.

Thanks for the source of Cdn parts.

It appears there is a 75% price reduction in the aftermarket. Any safety risk to using non-GM steel wheels? Car is not abused by driver -abused by Quebec roads

No worries at all using aftermarket steel rims. When I had my Grand Prix I bought aftermarket steel rims from Harland Pontiac Buick in Dorval for $50 each. Costco sells them too. The bolt pattern is 5 X 115mm, though 5 X 114.3 is more popular and more widely available. I think even Mercedes uses 5 X 114.3.

There'* some debate as to whether you could safely use 114.3 on Gm vehicles but I've yet to here of a problem.

Cheers,

I'm most likey to stay with the poverty steel look, as I'm stuck on OEM style wheels and they are hard to find used (without worries).

It appears the steel 16" x 6.5" - 5/115mm is available - offset is 42 .

Is that offset correct?

Thanks

I believe 42mm is the correct offset.

I finally got some like new stock 16" alloys at a very reasonable price on Ebay. Thanks to all who helped advise me.

Don't use ANY rim but the 115 x 5. 114.3 can be put on the car, but it is not safe, or recommended. Especially for long use.
