Default Horrible grinding on the left front rotor

I'm posting this as more of an FYI, since the car is now in the shop.

The left front rotor had been having scraping noises for some time now. I have been disabled since August, and could not work on the car myself, and could not afford to put it in the shop.

I am finally getting a check this Friday, and was hoping the car was going to last until then. It didn't. Friday afternoon, I couldn't reverse the car as it was grinding against the rotor so bad, that the car wouldn't move very well. I got out and looked, and there was CV grease all inside my wheel. I was at the doctor, and had just finished an epidural, so I went straight to the shop.

I got a call today, and it was exactly as I had feared. The TC/AB box had come loose and tore the CV boot and was trashing the rotor. Also, somehow, the hub was only holding on by one bolt. I have no clue how the other bolts sheared, except for a passing comment made by my wife a while back that she hit a curb. Sheesh, I didn't think she hit it that hard!

Anyway, my baby is getting fixed to the tune af $1200. I'll have her back this Friday.

Sorry to hear about the health problems.. good news on baby. And...they never admit how hard the hit really was.

No joke. Two sheared bolts, and the last one stripped... I'm lucky the wheel didn't just fall off.

Although, I'm wondering if a hit on a curb would have done that much damage to the hub without bending the rim. Has me wondering. May have sheared a bolt or two when the TC box got wedged in reverse, then the torque did the rest. I'm not absolutely sure without looking at the parts. I told the shop I wanted to keep the old parts, as no cores are needed.

I'll take some pics of the destroyed parts and post 'em.
