What would you do
Well it appears that the trans is taking a dump on my sons 2000 SSEi AGAIN...the car has 265K on it...still looks pretty decent...it is a one owner car (I bought it brand new)...this will be the fourth time I have had it out if I decide to pull it again...the engine was replaced last fall after spinning #2 rod bearing with a 68K junkyard motor...it runs perfectly...the car needs struts and shocks, has some minor dents and dings, head liner has come unadhesed in a bunch of spots, typical hood bubbling, couple of cracks in the nose down low, rust spot at the gas door, probably needs a right front bearing assembly due to tripping the traction sensor (Coded that one)...some what would you do...I can do ALL this stuff myself so labor dollars aren't an issue...I don't have the coin to rebuild this trans again but may be able to find a junkyard trans from the same car I got the engine from...is it worth anything at all??...could I sell it as is and get enough to buy a respectable car for him to drive to finish his last two years of college??...its so frustrating because the trans has been the biggest problem with this car since I bought it...out at 85K...again at 140K...again at 200K...I have spent a small fortune changing the fluid more often then the recommendation, having it rebuilt, and all the hours of changing it...I am looking out my office window right now at it and it still looks pretty so I have a hard time thinking about just junking it

It has never had the trans replaced completely...just rebuilt it is the HD version used on the blown cars...and no he drives very sensibly and it ultra meticulous about PM stuff...changes his oil, checks his fluids and generally takes car of stuff

All that stuff can be fixed, if you want to take the time and do it. As for the trans. I just did a swap for a guy a few months ago. $500 for a low mileage trans and 13 hours to do the swap. But that included 3 hours of me swapping out some hardened parts. And I had help, so without that help I'm sure I could have saved another hour or two. So with no real special tools, and about 10 hours of time you can swap a trans yourself. We have several memebers here that have done it, so answers are easy. Plus if needed, some of us are only a phone call away.
