oil gauge kapoot?
hey guys,
my oil gauge jumps up to the max when starting car and staying up there all the time. I got an 00 bonneville SLE. The gauge works cause when car is off the needle goes to sleep but I start car it goes to the max and stays there all the time. Everything seems fine as far as car running...any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Pretty quick, cheap and easy fix. Get a sending unit, gauge type, around $30.
It is a small threaded sensor that bolts into the oil filter mount and has a electrical connector.
They very commonly fail.
Someone will need to post the torque spec, but its more of a nice snug wrenched fit type of thing.

Mine just went....same symptoms as yours. If you want to be 100% sure it'* the sensor, unplug the sensor and see if the gauge reads 0. If it does, it'* the sensor. Rock Auto has them for $31.xx and there is a Rock Auto discount code for board members. I think it'* still good, 5% off.
