Default 2000 SE Won't Run Chugs

Alright, I have a 2000 Bonneville SE 3.8L and I am having some engine troubles. First I will give some background to the last 48 hours. I removed everything out of my car to fix the "window signal wire corrosion issue" I then washed my car and engine with everything out of my car. I replaced bulbs in my stereo and gauge cluster. In order to reposition needles on gauges, I started car about 24 hours ago, and it ran perfect. I plugged in tech II and fixed gauge needle settings. 16 hours ago, I finished putting carpet, seats, and all dash back into car. Within that time, my battery dies and I can no longer start car. I hook up battery charger. 12 hours ago, I start my car. Idols perfect for 30-40 seconds then starts chugging and rumbling. Car stalls. Try to start car again for the next 30+ minutes, and battery eventually dies. Hook up battery charger over night. Present: Try to start car, runs and idols great for 30-40 seconds, and then chugs, rumbles and dies. Now it will only chug and rumble and then die within 4-5 seconds. I have posted a video below, and if anyone knows what is going on, please let me know. Thanks. YouTube - 100 8407

After finally getting it started by 3/4 throttle, and having it chug, the Tech II gave a DTC that the Mass Airflow sensor failed. I unplugged it, and car ran perfect. I plugged it back in, and the car started chugging and died. Now, here is the next question, how do I check to see if it really is the mass air flow sensor? More or less, how do I check the unit itself?

You actually did the check. It'* to unplug it. Odd...maybe it got wet at some point. It should be a sealed unit and washing things shouldn't have caused an issue.

I would check the connector at the MAF for 12V and ground. The connector leads could have got some water in there and the PCM isn't receiving the the signal. Also the scanner should be able to read the output from the MAF. If I remember right, it'* around 5.8 g/* at idle, then up around 13-15+ g/* at WOT. It seems funny that any water would have made it into the throttle body, but it wouldn't hurt to try cleaning the sensor either. Did you service your air filter at all? Check that those bolts are tight too.

Thanks for all of your help. It was the MAF sensor. After going to about 15 local salvage yards, I finally found one and bought for 40 bucks. I am happy that my bonnie is running now...

Good to hear it! Keep that Bonnie running right and where she belongs, in the D! I wish I could afford to get back there... Someday

Yeah, I wish I could continue to keep her running here... I am moving to Mesa AZ. I am gonna move there in less then a month because of the economy here... It will really stick out against all of the foreign cars there... I hope to be back in Detroit sometime soon...
