Water + Gas + Electricity = Disaster
So my car wouldn't start tonight and I went to check the battery under the rear seat and there was a bit of water in the area where the battery sits. Also I smelled gas. I sopped out almost all the water but I still don't know where it came from? The sunroof is my only idea, is this a culprit? Kinda figured the gas smell might be from the gas line?

The water could be coming from several places...a trunk leak, water deflector in the door, or the sun roof drains. Check under the car for any wet spots around the gas lines, as well as around the evap cannister.

Where is the evap canister? Also where are the sun roof drains? Is the water deflector you're talking about the rubber gaskets inside the door?

The cannister is under the car, under the back seat. A rectangular shaped black or gray box with the evap lines leading to it. If you have a tendency to "top off" the tank when filling up, it can pour gas into that cannister, creating problems, including what you have.
This is a write-up on the door leaks.

The sunroof drains run down the A pillars for the front, and C pillars for the back. Doing a search will yield many threads on the problems.

water
If it has been extreemly cold in Bufalo the drains probably froze up like my SSE did this winter,
Just dry it up and park in the Sun and see how it goes.

Yeah, it'* been pretty cold this winter. I've noticed that my floor in one of the rear sides was wet starting in October. I did dry the water spot up when I found it but once again I can hear what sounds like water moving when I stop (like a half full gallon jug when it'* moved). It'* been warmer the past few days here and it'* 50 degrees now...I know, that'* not warm for some of you out there but it'* Buffalo we're talking about.
I stopped at the Pontiac dealership today and they told me it'* most likely the sunroof drain but were reluctant and vague to tell me where to find them. They want $40 an hour to do a water test and said it will take between 4 to 5 hours!!!

Sorry about the delayed reply.
Thanks to you guys for the vey helpful info but it turns out it isn't the sunroof.
I had a tech at work look at my car and he found the problem and the sunroof drains. The drains are perfectly fine fortunatly...BUT, it turns out CARFAX didn't tell me the truth when I checked out this car before I bought it!!!!
The speculation/diagnosis is that the car was in an accident and the driver'* side rear quarter panel was replaced and water is getting in through the rear wheel well and the bolt holes where the bumper connects to the quarter panel.
I can post pics possibly tomorrow to show why the tech and I think the panel was replaced and see what you guys think.
