Default Interior light fuse keeps popping

Don't know why. Any help? What else is on that circuit?

Try pulling all the inside lights and see if the fuse blows. If not, start putting bulbs back. If it does blow I would guess you have a dead short some where. Start checking the sockets close to see if something is bent or broken.

Here is the situation. When I got the car on Friday, the interior lights didn't work. Put a fuse in it, worked great. Yesterday morning used a plug in the cig lighter compressor to air up the tire, compressor stopped, lights went out. I put replaced all the bulbs with red ones (to match the dash) then a new fuse in, pop. So either the cig lighter is shorted out, or it doesn't like the red bulbs. They are 12v bulbs. Got tired of messing with it tonight. Tomorrow I will pull all the bulbs and see if it is still blowing fuses. I was just asking to see if there was anything else on that circuit other than the cig lighter.

If it popped when you were using the cig lighter, that will be a good place to start looking. All it takes is a frayed wire to touch and pop, the fuse is gone.

Here'* my post from another thread:
My 2002 SLE would occasionally blow the fuse for the interior lights (several times a month). Turns out it was the sun visors (light in the mirror). A mechanic at my local dealer said they have had problems with them. Played with the sun visors and got the fuse to blow. Replaced the sun visors and haven't blown a fuse in 1-1/2 years.

It was my bad. I did check the current rating on the new light bulbs. Put the old ones back in, replaced the fuse. Works great.
