Default Door lock not working

My rear window quite literally fell down, so instead of paying to fix it, I took off the panel and used a couple zip ties to close the window. Now though, the door lock will not work on that door. If I hit lock, all my doors lock except the door I took the panel off of. And also, the interior light will not go off when I hit lock. Nor will the rear lights light up when I hit unlock! This is quite frustrating. I was wondering what I could have messed up by having that panel off.

You don't have to pay to get it fixed. You can do that yourself using this procedure that you'll find in techinfo.

As for what you could have done to cause the problem, you'll likely have to take the door panel off again to find out. Check for pinched, broken, or shorted wires, and check to make sure that you reconnected all connections to the door module.

Well, quite honestly, I couldnt care less if the rear windows go down or not. I don't have the tools nor the patience to fix it. I took the panel back off. I cannot see any broken wires. Everything is clipped back into place. What part actually registers that the door is closed? Is there a chance that something could have shorted out? Of course I didn't mess with the wires that go back to the locking mechanism and everything plugs in and clips... so I don't see what the problem is. Any input would be appreciated.

Well, took it off again and for some reason now it works. Don't know what I did... just disconnected and reconnected it all and slapped the panel back on. Just a loose connection I guess. Oh yeah, it'* an 01 SE w/ 130k miles.

Sounds like something was out of place or pushing against the mechanism.

To give you an idea how little it takes to slow things down.. I once removed a seatbelt or SIR sticker from a window. Yup..wouldn't go down past that sticky spot. A little goo gone fixed me up.. After I had the panel off.
