spark plugs (one or 2 steps cooler havent decided)
180 2 hole drilled t-stat
tranny cooler (the factory cooler has been bypassed)
ASE performance chip
Pulley of unknown size w/ new gator belt

I may go with 1.9 rockers and/or headers and/or Jet hot ceramic coat the OEM headers
but that will be in the distant future (12 months plus)

ok here is my Idea of what I want to do with this car
relialbility, longetivety
cool running (arizona is murder on cars with heat)
Horsepower (real close third)
fuel effiency
common repair parts

I have no idea st to what size I should run with , and I am at your mercey for help

Go with the 3.4" . Invest in the proper puller puller so you can upgrade pullies later.
When you install headers and the 1.9 rockers, switch to the 3.25"
You will notice an impressive gain with the 3.4" but if you jump to the 3.25" to soon you might defeat the gains with knock retard.
You're doing all the right other mods for where you live.

Yeah what he said.

Get a 3.4" Pulley, as that is the perfect pulley for your mods. If you are going to do future modding, either you can buy your own pulley puller ($130) or you can rent one for the original pulley install ($30) and then buy a modular pulley system so you can change pullies by removing a few bolts at any time. With rockers and headers and the other mods you have you should be able to run a 3.25 or 3.2" pulley. I will tell you what I have told other members. It is my true opinion that a modular pulley system would be the best bet for you. (keep in mind that I am not trying to sell anything, and I make no money off of anything that you do buy so it does me no good to tell you this other than for me to know that you have knowledge about available products) You have mods already, and want to do a pulley. So a 3.4 is the perfect size, but you want to do other mods later that will allow you to change the pulley to a smaller one. Well, if you get a ZZP Modular Pulley System (available at www.zzperformance.com), you can buy any pulley size you want from 3.4" to 2.6" in .1 inch increments, and a 2.45 and 2.35 pulley are also available. Well, since they have so many pullies you can buy the system for $139 (the hub & 1 pulley) with a 3.4 pulley. Then lets say you do rockers. Well that isn't enough to let you run a 3.2 pulley, but you will probably be able to run a 3.3" pulley, so you can buy a 3.3 inch pulley and put it on when you do your rockers. Then lets say you have that for a few months and decide to put on headers. Then you can buy a 3.2" pulley and put that on when you do your headers (because you should be able to run that pulley with headers and rockers). Well, that is perfect for the street. But now you decide you want to see what your car can do at the track, so you get your car ready to run at the track, and fill it up with race gas. Well, race gas isn't going to do you any good without a smaller pulley, so you could probably go to a 3.1 or 3.0" pulley at the track on race gas. And maybe you decided to go to the track before you got your rockers or headers when you are running the 3.4 pulley. Well, with race gas you can probably run a 3.3 or 3.2 pulley at the track, so you can just switch to the 3.3 or 3.2 easily without having to pull the pulley off and press a new one on. It just makes it much easier for future modding. With a press-on pulley you don't have all the size choices, and you can't change the pullies whenever you want in 3 minutes. I used to think it was stupid to get a modular pulley system unless you were going to do heavy modding, but not anymore, a modular pulley system works great for everyone if it has enough sizes (like the ZZP does) because you can basically get as much power out of your car as possible.

Oh, and about the T-stat. I don't know much about Arizona other than it gets really hot in the summer. How cold does it get there in the winter??? I am assuming the coldest temps you see is probably 30 degrees? If you don't get very cold winters and your summers are hot, I definately recommend getting a drilled 160 degree thermostat. It will keep your car cooler in the summer, making more power, and giving better reliability, and it won't run too cold in the winter because your winter isn't very cold. We run a drilled 160 degree t-stat in the GTP because it is stored winters. We drive it when it is 40 or warmer usually, so the cold t-stat isn't a problem.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy that information.

The ASE chip does not lower the fan turn on temperature setting, so the coolant will eventually heat up in that Hot Arizona desert climate.
Chad should upgrade with a manual fan switch to benefit from the 160 or even a 180 stat.

2ksilver bullet, I agree with the manual fan switch, but to behonest Id rather re-porgram the pcm to have it automagically turn on at 190ish or so. I figured the asc chip would not do it . the only device I THINK that can re-program the pcm is the GM tech2 tool.

of cource the price for the gm tech 2 tool is $3000.00 bucks!!!!
it might as well be 3 billion dollars, cuz I aint gona spend that kind of money
sigh
