I finally get to ask a ?, Heater motor sometimes not working
2000 bonneville with climate control. I noticed this am I had no fan and no heat, I looked for a fuse, which by the way I didn't find, but when i was under the hood I saw the motor housing so I lightly rapped it with my thumb and it came on and ran fine the rest of the day. Now it sat for 4 hours in the cold 15 degs and it just did the same thing. Where is the fuse located just in case it does blow sometime ? And is this a sign the motor is bad or just maybe has some ice in it or something and how hard is it to change and is it expensive ? Sorry to sound like a lunk head as this is probably not the type of questions you guys like. But thank you anyway

I'm wondering what you really tapped on, as the blower motor is located inside the car, under the dash on the passenger side. The motor generally would require more than a tap with the thumb to get it going again, but would be a good sign of a failing motor. Here'* a link on replacement.
Blower
This is information on the under-hood fuse block
Underhood
and under the rear seat.

The fuse is located in the rear fuse panel under the rear seat.
It could either be the Blower motor or the controler but since you described touching the motor and it came alive I think thats your culpret.
Inspect the connector and harness for the motor, its located at the bottom of the motor.
Heres a schematic in case it gets more involved.
This used one sold today, but you get the idea.

you don't think thats the blower motor ? it is round in the center of the firewall with a wire going to it and once I tapped it very lightly it came on and ran fine. When it cools off it will not start again. it looks like the pic of the blower motor what else would it be ?
thank you guys so much for the lightning fast answers

I can't think of what may be there that would look like it. This is for your 2000, right? Here are some pictures of the firewall area. It'* an L67 engine, rather than the L36 - but the firewall area should be about the same. Also, ignore the strut tower brace. Can you point out what it is?

my mix up, mine is a 2000 Bonnie this is on my wifes 97 SE, the motors look the same and i assumed they were but you are right I just looked at mine and there is not the same housing on mine under the hood as is on hers. after you rap it and it starts it feel like a motor running inside ? I culd take a picture if needed. thank you again for spending this much time on this problem. i work weekends here too and i figured if need be i could pull it inside our maint dept where it is warm and attempt to change it.

yes, that is the blower motor on the 97. easy to pull and replace. once you have to tap to get it to work , your going to have to replace it soon. it will happen more frequently and you'll need bigger hammers as time passes.

Ah yes. That will make all the difference with it being a '97. As you've likely seen by now, there were more than just some exterior styling differences between the '97 and the 2000. As Travis told you, you were right in thinking it to be the blower motor. It'* fairly easy to get out, with the hardest thing being finding the right combination of turns to get it past the strut tower brace. Some will remove the brace to make it easier. If you do that, remove just the bar, and don't move the car until you put the bar back on. Glad that we could get on the same page with it.

Got it out, I did remove the strut brace but I had to remove the whole bar with the brakets on the end, is that ok ? I couldn't get the bar out w/o doing that. I will not move the car until i put it back. I now see the motor cover is a brittle hard rubber and the hose snapped off the bottom so i will have to try and silicone it back on when finished. We are only going to drive this car until spring so I would hope it will be ok. I also had to remover the braket holding the fuel lines and I did not have enough room to get it out even with pushing the car forward and blocking the tires. Now my wife is picking up a new on for 46.00 and bringing it here so it seems like I am almost doen. I can't thank you guys enough and im glad I found this site. Now if my boss doesn't see im visiting here im all set, thank you again ALL of you ! By the way the old motor when looking up into the drain hole is all rusted inside.
