A//C Suddenly not working
My 2002 SSei'* ac has worked just fine. I pulled into my driveway, turned off the engine. Went into my house for about 5 minutes, came back outside, and the a/c would only blow hot air. Is this a computer problem or a mechanical problem? I read some other posts and a reply suggested this could be a stuck actuator of sorts in the dash. Can this be identified via problem codes in the computer?

malatu, we need more info. Is the A/C compressor clutch engaged? Are the refrigerant lines cold going to the evaperator? Try to describe the condition in more detail.

If one side ( driver side ) is blowing hot and the other side cold.. you may need a recharge.. as Truewildman had that issue.. then both side blew hot.. and he got it recharged.. last I talked to him he said it'* blowing cold again.. but is lookin for leaks.. you may want to ask him.

This morning I was taking it to my mechanic to have him look at it. And of course, during the 4 mile journey, as the system was blowing very hot air from both the driver and passenger sides, I was manually turning the ac on and off by pressing the ac button (like I have been doing for the past three days). About half way into the 4 mile trip what do you think happened........ all of the sudden (after pressing the button to the on position) it started blowing cold air.....all better. Go figure. Any ideas. Is it a fluke or should I expect it to happen again?
Thanks for the your reply.

This happened to my 2000 and it was a damper somewhere underneath that was hanging up. In my case, it had nothing to do with the system refrigerant charge.
