2000+ SSEi Reliability sucks!!!!!!!
So I took the SSEi for a drive to the store when the snow was really bad the other day, and I looked down at the dash and saw that the odometer had almost reached 160k miles. So I think about all the repairs that we've had to do and its rediculous:
LIM gasket at ~70k miles.
Rear window motors went out at a little over 100k (fixed by putting a screw under the window to hold it up on both sides)
Catalytic converter became plugged at ~130k miles, replaced with straight pipe and 02 sim.
Drivers side wheel bearing went out at ~135k miles.
Noticed boot on drivers side halfshaft was ripped when wheel bearing was replaced so I replaced that too at 135k miles.
Oil pressure sending unit at ~150k miles.
And two of the 3 backlighting bulbs on the stereo burnt out.
As far as maintenance we've done:
Oil changes every ~7500 miles with Valvoline Durablend 10W30.
Tires at ~60k miles (Eagle RS-A'*)
Front brake pads at 70k miles.
Trans pan drop and new filter at 70k miles.
New plugs at 70k miles.
Front & rear brake pads at ~120k miles.
Isn't that rediculous....damn better get a honda or something so we don't have to do so many repairs. Seems to me like we did pretty good. Total repairs didn't even reach $1k over a span of a little over 5 years and 160k.
Keep in mind this car has had a K&N filter and pulley since it was basically new. It got rockers, wp pulley, 180 t-stat, plugs, wires, and gutted airbox at ~70k miles. Then at ~110k it got a custom tuned DHP PCM. And it gets the crap beat out of it. So for a modded SSEi I think its doing pretty good considering the miles.
Anyone else want to share their reliability experiences?
Shawn

ive had my bonnie since it had 50k miles on it, it now has 97k. ive replcaed the brakes, tires, battery, and i need 1 front wheel bearing. Im more than happy putting $140 into a car with nearly 100k on it. can you tell me that all your other cars are perfect or near it up to 160k miles?

I can probably make a list with my 01 SSEi since it was new - now has 63k miles on it:
Warranty:
headliner rattle around sunroof - not fixed (dealer tried twice)
instrument panel lens missing 2 screws and cracked - replaced
hard shifting transmission - dealer checked twice but not solved
RF lower fender trimpiece came loose - had to retape it on (?)
daylight sensor malfunctioned - dealer replaced
airdam on sunroof broke - brittle - dealer replaced
groan in steering column - new rack installed - several trips to dealer (TSB)
battery leaked and replaced (had to repaint floor around battery and get acid smell out of car)
outer trim moldings around windows & doors sticky - cleaned with WD40
Out of warranty:
new tires at 37k miles
intake manifold gasket coolant leak - dealer repaired
driver side rear window regulator - replaced
passenger side rear window regulator - replaced
CV boot ripped - driver'* side front - replaced
oil sending unit failed - replaced
currently feeling popping in steering wheel - intermediate shaft ?
dash starting to rattle on drivers side near winshield pillar - stuffed felt in the crack
transmission still shifts a little hard at times
Cheers !
