Default Driver side heater problem

I am looking at a 2000 SSEI with dual climate controls. The driver side blows hot air regardless if the AC is on or off or what temperature it'* set at. The passenger side controls appear to work as designed. Is this a common problem? And, is this an expensive fix?

Thank you in advance for your expertice!

No its not a common problem but it does happen, the air mix door is stuck on the heat side. There is a little actuator to crank the door oneway or the other, first check the linkage and then the connections (dk blue, dk grey and brown wires) or maybe the actuator is shot?
The driver air mix door is located to the left of the stereo. You need to remove the knee bolster and intsrument panel module to get at it.

Default Estimate on repair

What dollar amount would you attach to this repair done at the dealer? This may affect my offering price. Also, since I posted my first question, I read in another posting regarding heater problems, it could be that the heating system needs re programmed via the computer???????? (Or did I interpret the posting incorrectly)

Thanks much!

No. Acutally, it was on I was considering for purchase. I passed on that car and ended up buying a 2002 bonnieville Ssei. Coincidently, the 2002 all of the sudden would only blow very hot air regardless of what I did. This problem went on for 2 days. On my way to my mechanic for servicing, it started to blow cold air. Go figure! Haven't had a problem since. I have read in other postings there is an actuator of sorts ( a mechanical door of sorts ..... I really don't know for I'm not a mechanic) gets stuck and causes the problem. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Regards,

Malatu
