Default Blower Motor Sound - !!SOLVED!!

A few months ago the blower for my HVAC system started making a VERY loud vibrating/humming sound when the Auto Climate Control was set to above 3. At the highest setting, it was almost too loud to have on. Upon searching for the issue, I realized there have been SEVERAL members with the same issue, and I'm hoping they will look at this thread for a possible solution. My mothers 1997 Chevy Lumina made the EXACT noise, so it seems to be a fairly common issue.

I opened the Air Filtration System cover and removed the filter (which I had replaced shortly before this issue arose). Inside of the blower motor there was about a 4-5 inch piece of foam that was attached to the fan blades. It was so tightly stuck on there that I almost assumed it was SUPPOSED to be there, but then I realized that didn't make much sense for a piece of foam to be stuck randomly to the middle of the fan blades. So I removed it and BINGO...HVAC is quiet again.

I doubt a huge piece of foam could have passed through the air filter, so I assume it came off of something within the unit itself. Either way, its fixed...and now I can use my heat at full blast, lol.

Default Noise blower moter

Thanks for the info on the heater blower . I new mine sounded louder than I thought it should. Took your advice & checked it out today. It had a leaf from a tree in it about the sise of a silver doller. Got it out, sounds great now. Thanks

Does anyone have a opinion as to where the foam came from?
