Hub bearings finally replaced...
Took my car into the shop last week while i was away for work. Had a rythmic rubbing nosie with corosponding buzzing in the floorboard and the wheel. I told them I thought it was the left front wheel bearing. They called me in the middle of the week saying the warranty company was going to cover it and it should all be ok. Great I thought.
I get home thursday night and the garage is open till midnight so i pop on over to see how it is and possibly take it home. When I get there the mechanic working on it tells me they replaced the hub but the sound was still there so they rotated the tires and the sound seemed to move with the tires. They told me it was a tire problem and put my original hub back on so i wouldnt have to pay my deductible.
Needless to say when I drove it home that night, i still heard the noise i brought it in for and it hadnt moved at all. I called around on friday to get some tire quotes but nobody stocked them in my tire size (of course). I remember Scott Cook had his original set (with about 2500 miles) from his SSEi in his basement so I called him up, made an offer for tires and rims and had them installed by Friday night.
You guessed it, I still have the sound/vibration. Took it in yesterday and said i replaced not only the tires, but the rims and I still have the problem. They replaced both front hubs for me then and now it rides like a dream. To bad i had to spend a bunch of money on the rims and tires to get what should have been replaced the first time but I needed the tires anyway so it all works out. The rims are the honeycomb style like whats on Kendras car but surprisingly they dont look that bad on my car. Once i get back from the GTA i'll clean up my chromies and get the rubber moved to them.
