Default 01 SSEI AC Fault Codes

Hi all been a while since I posted anything, after my failed cat issues that torched the pistons the car has made it 50k miles with no big issues. Now I have an issue with the AC that’* popped up and is giving me fits. Few weeks ago AC OFF showed up on the climate control and could not get it to come back on. Next morning it worked as normal again for a few hours, then same thing. I added a can of Freon when the pump was running but did not seem to make any difference. When it’* on, it’* cold. After a few days of it kicking off and on, now it refuses to come one at all.

I was able get a code with a scan tool, “AC Low Pressure Circuit Fault”. I changed out the low-pressure switch today, no help. I also checked the fan relays with the scan tool connected, that’* not it. AC mini relay seem to be working, BUT when you unplug it, it clicks as was in the on position. I plan to verify the hi / low pressure of the system with a set of gauges, but will have to jump the compressor directly to get it to come on. Unless there is another trick to do this I'm not aware of. Tried to force it on with the scan tool in diag mode, no luck.

So what am I missing here? Why did it wait till the hottest week of summer to break? Ok I know that one..

Thanks,

KT

You may actually have a low pressure condition, which inhibits A/C compressor start. It appears that you may have a freon leak in the system. That has to be ruled out basically before anything else can be done.

One would think so, but when I added a can last week it was already blowing freezing cold air and made no difference, couple minutes later it just shut off till I let the car set a few hours. Yesterday I put a set of gauges on it, showed 150 high side pressure but since it would not start the compressor I could not be sure of anything. Unlike the old model AC systems, you can't just jump the low pressure switch to start the compressor. I was also thinking maybe a restriction in the system, but the high side checked out when I had the scan tool on it, there is a sensor for that also.
