ok, it front of the sunglass holder there is a little strip of nuthin there.. i wanna put switches up there, is it easy to get the roof carpet stuff off to run wires? has anyone done this?!? any post to read??

Actually, I have the exact same thing as you do. Then, I bought an overhead consol from a bonnie that had a sunroof switch and homelink transmitter. I bought it off ebay for the sole purpose of using the homelink. So, that little blank strip.... that is where the HomeLink transmitter would go. All you need to do is pop that plastic piece off the ceiling and disconnect the cig. lighter cable. Look on the underside where the plastic strip is. You'll see cut outs for the three HomeLink buttons, the LED, and two screw holes.

I never attempted to take the whole headliner off for the simple fact that, with my luck, I would tear the fabric up. Installed an autodimming mirror with temp and compass. I ran the wires up the passenger A-pillar and just pushed them under the edge of the windshield side of the headliner. I then dealt with the wires around the mirror area of the headliner but popping out the dome lights (be careful, you can snap off the little plastic tabs on the front underside of the domelight that help hold it in). I'm sure that would help you run wires to the overhead consol part.

They are part of the retained accessory power. In other words, they will stay on for 10 minutes after you turn the car off.

No, your amps will be on for 10 minutes after the car shuts off regardless if you open a door or not. You're thinking of the radio'* power. That particular signal is a digital signal switch that only the radio can operate on. That is a whole other different topic.

Not that I know of. That'* is what I used, the fuse box. Then I purchased the Metra GMRC-04. That is a little adapter that allows you to keep your door chimes and gives you the digital signal turn on wire for your aftermarket stereo.
