Default white exhaust

I saw on an earlyer post under the 95 bonne'* that white exhaust smoke could be a sign of bad valve guide seals. I have reacently noticed when I start the car there is white exhaust comming out of the tail pipes. I also have recently noticed oil around what i think to be either the intake manifold or the valve covers, not realy shure which is which. any ideas on how to narow down what the problem is and or what needs to be done to fix if. thanks

Please put your year and trim level in your profile.

White exhaust would be burning coolant. Blue exhaust would be oil. You likely have an intake failure. Read up on this. http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=38.
If you're N/A - count on the upper and lower. Supercharged? The LIM gasket.

How long does the white smoke last?
Does it only occur upon starting the car from being cold or is it warm as well?

its a 2000 SSEi, and im not sure how long it lasts. I would guss untill it hits running temp because I only notice it when I start the car (but not always) and it tends to be normal when I get to my destination.

We'll need you to start it and pay attention, then let us know.

Otherwise..we'd be guessing and wouldn't want you replacing a motor for no reason.

White may also be water or condensation that is burning off (why it smokes a bit when its cold out) and may be normal.

I know i get water pooled in my exhaust tips after it rains because they stick out a bit and they produce a bit of steam on cold days until it all gets burned (steamed?) off.
