I need some advice. I have a '00 SSEi with the front driver'* side window inoperative. Luckily it'* in the up position during our current rainy weather. I removed the interior door panel and did some trouble shooting. The door controller module is putting out the proper + or - voltage when the switch for that window is operated accordingly up and down. I applied 12V directly to the motor in both polarities respectively and no sounds or movement from the motor. Just a very slight spark when the terminals were touched with the voltage. I think its the motor as all of the cabling and the regulator components look good. I have a motor on order and am awaiting delevery. First, how do you think I'm doing so far? Second, I found some instructions for R & R 'ing the motor and they say that before you start the procedure you should not have the window in the fully up or fully down position. Since mine is in the up position and not moving anywhere at this time, what does anyone think should be done to replace the motor. The "how to" procedure I'm reading states " IMPORTANT: There is a binding effect on the power window motor drive when the window is in the fully closed or open position.". Third, the "how to" procedure doesn't mention duct-taping the window in its position prior to the removal portion of the procedure. I've seen this step mentioned in several other articles that I've researched. Has anyone been down this road before? I'd appreciate some advice.

1.Disconnect the harness coupling from the motor.

2.Insert a test light probe into the coupling and clip the ground wire of the test light to a good ground.

3. Turn on ignition switch.

4. Now operate the window switch. The bulb in the test light should light up. This will establish wether or not you have power to the motor. If the bulb does not light up, then you have no power to the motor.

5. If you don't have power, check the fuse for that circuit.

6. If you have established power, then either the motor is bound up by the regulator cable or the motor is just worn out.

If in fact the regulator is good and the motor is bad, it is still easier to pull the regulator out to get to the motor. You might need a Torx driver to pull the three screws that hold the motor to the gear sector. Hope this helps.

My passenger side front window was in a similar state. I removed the 3 screws that secure the motor to the regulator (mine were not torx - used a nut driver, but it also was set for a phillips). Once it was removed, the motor turned freely. I put the motor back in, and everything works fine. Seems that it was mechanically bound up.
