Just under 50 thousand miles

This morning I opened the hood just to have a look around with a flashlight.
the only thing I recently did was add Power steering fluid.
and I do remember a wire from the harness system in the way
of the cap that I shoved out of the way.
I kind of put it back where it was and looked at my plug wires.and started her up.
and you guessed it no SES light on this morning and seemed fine on the drive to
work. go figure.

But for the hell of it I went to Advance Auto after work to ask if the scan would still
read a code if the SES wasnt on.
the answer was I couldnt tell you. and the guy who does the scan is off today.

So Im asking you Good people. Will it read without an SES light on.

then another guy said they arent allowed to do them anymore.
Legal mumbo jumbo
But he thinks if I stop by tomorrow and asked the "guy in charge of the scanner"
he may let Me do it. if I leave them my DL or CC

anywho no problem today and I drove her around for about 20 miles for some shop
runs.

so I will go back and try again.

Oh while I was there I ordered vent visors

Jim...could have been a quick spot of water or bad gas... the engine ran bad enough to be seen by the pcm and once you had a couple of "cycles" it cleeared itself. Many things clear after 3 "cycles"

i'm still not sure exactly what qualifies as a cycle, but it'* more than a start, run for a moment and shut off.

97 book says there is no suggested replacement interval. However at 70K when I changed Dads..it was overdue.

Stepmom'* at 30K was still good. Mine was unknown and needed it badly.

I would suggest about every 30K, cheap part...quick and easy to do.
