Default Oil pan gasket/Tranny mount

I am about to replace my front tranny mount and was wondering if I can loosen up the mount and just support the tranny by puttin a jack under the bell? Also, is the torque spec critical on this or can I just ram it home? Should I replace the hardware as well? It doesnt look bad and is really not even rusted.

I am also going to replace the oil pan gasket because it has been leaking for a long time and I haven't had the time to swap it yet. Does anyone know the torque spec for these bolts? Do I need to follow a pattern or should I just tighten from the middle out? Thanks in advance.

Here'* all the torque specs you need. https://www.gmforum.com/t278799/ and https://www.gmforum.com/t278801/

I've never replaced a tranny mount on my car, so I can't help you on where to brace and support.

Follow the torque specs on all bolts. You can support the trans with a jack, but use a 2x4 or something to help spread the load.

Thanks guys. 125 inch pounds is pretty much just like hand snug right? I just realized I forgot my torque wrench at work and I cant get it until monday, but I wanted to get this stuff taken care of this weekend. I couldnt find the tranny mount on that list either I saw the motor mount but no tranny mount. Is there a pattern for the oil pan or just from the middle out?

The gaskets are more about even then how much. You don't want to crush the gasket. Go cross back and forth to keep it as even as possible.

125 inch pounds = 10 foot pounds.

I need to pull off the right side motor mount to get the pan off. How can I support the motor while the mount is off?

From above with a hoist or 4x4 with a chain. It'* a bit of an art.

I'd suggest supporting the pan with a jack and wood block first, to allow you to break the bolts going into the pan free. This will mean the passenger side fo the car is jacked and supported previously. While jacking it up, attach whatever you plan to hold it up with. Then let it rest and remove the bracket. Then the pan should be able to come off when the jack is out of the way.
