So I started the removal of my door panels yesterday to replace the weather deflector seals. First thing I noticed was I do not have the clips that were referred to in the repair instructions as detailed by Woody_02SilverSE. I have always thought that my door panel was too flexible when closing the door, but I have also always been careful because of it. So does anyone happen to know the pn for the clips I am referring to? I plan on getting 4 of them in case the passenger side is the same way, but I don't think it will be...

Next question is about the additional wires I found in there...




The blue wire is soldered to the red w/ black tracer wire and the white wire is soldered to the orange w/ black tracer wire. I am not sure of which wire the green one goes to, but I wasn't going to take the tap & zip ties off of that one.

My question is, can I put a connector on the white and blue wires safely and without causing problems? I do not know what this is for, but I assume it is some kind of factory add-on alarm system.

Any help on the wires or the clip P/N would be greatly appreciated!!! TIA

They were $4.45 each. I only needed one, but I ordered 3 because that was all that was available in all of California at the time and I wanted some extras. Of course you know that there are 2 per door and that they screw onto those square plastic insert nuts.

I know there are 2 per door, but I was of the understanding that the metal clips just push down into the slots on the white plastic pieces shown in the picture... Or are the plastic pieces included in that PN?

I'm not sure what those white plastic pieces are that are in your picture. What I do know is this: The metal clips screw directly onto the steel door panel with separate screws.

Now on your trim panel, there should be 2 square black plastic clips that slide onto that steel bracket that'* attatched to your trim panel. It is these black plastic clips that the steel clips from your door snap into.

It is common for the dealership mechanics (that don't know what they're doing) to pull so hard on the trim panel that they rip the screws holding the steel bracket onto the trim panel right out of their sockets.

On this car, the metal clips do slide into the white plastic blocks that are attached to the door. The door card then gets pushed onto the clips and latches into place.

They are very easy and fool proof to put together, but like MACDRIVE said, if you don't know what you are doing when taking the door card off, you will most certainly break something.

Okay then, I was just assuming it was the same as my Buick; apparently not. :?

Those clips are called 360 clips. When the door interior trim panel is removed from the door with an upward motion, those 360 clips come off with the panel. They slip out of the 2 nylon retainers. You have to remove the 360 clips from the door panel with needle nose pliers, then slide them into the nylon retainers (the 2 white pieces) on the door frame prior to reinstallation of door panel. Without these 360 clips in place the arm rest section of the door panel will not be secured properly. As for the extra wiring, need more detail.

That sounds exactly opposite of my Buick. On mine, the steel male clips are on the door and the female plastic clips are on the trim panel.
