Default Pontiac Enthusiast

Latest edition of Pontiac Enthusiast is suggesting the Bonneville may soon be "extinct".

First GM drops Oldsmobile, then Pontiac drops the Trans Am and now potentially the Bonneville...I am not sure how many more hits I can take from GM and Pontiac!

That Chrylser 300C is starting to look at lot more attractive...

Bonneville sales have been steadily dropping over the years. After 2000 sales have been steadily declining every year. They need a re-design and some major changes if they want to pick up sales again. There'* just something about them that the general public doesn't like. Probably the price tag. :?

"Extinct" as we know it today. I believe that they will replace the current Bonneville with an all new design and Rear Wheel Drive in 2006. Or late 2006 as a 2007 model. I can't see how it could be called anything but a Bonneville.

Oh, and I'm SURE it will be designed/equiped to compete with the likes of the Chrysler 300

the gxp is a awesome car, but its kinda to little to late compared to the competition. maybe they did it to hold people over till a 06 complete redesign, im sure they spent a ton on the grand prix, gto, g6 and whatever else they had going, bonnie is sure to be next

Default Never mention a Chrysler Product

Cutlass442 and Ol Timer

Please never mention a Chrysler Product in the same post as a Bonneville ever again! It is too hard on my barf reflex!

I just had the misfortune of having rented a "300" (note no reference to a Ch...... product) this past weekend. I drove it from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Fargo, North Dakota and a variety of other places but in total probably a 500 - 600 mile run. If the 300 is not one of the worst cars I have ever driven, I'm sure it is near the top of the list, so I'm glad I can not remember any worse experiences.

No Hemi ........ so absolutely zero and I mean zero performance.
Plenty of blind spots with its low profile design.
Uncomfortable seats, My dad a die hard Ch.... man even hated them.
Shiny chrome like inlays on the steering wheel that reflected a morning sun directly into my eyes.
A very stupid cup holder design that had the cover lid open towards the front of the car making grabbing your beverage difficult and a certain beverage spiller when you are not playing attention.
A very poor placement of cruise control lever right above the turn signal and wiper control. Numerous miss hits on my part over the weekend ....... maybe that says something about my coordination ..... but I choose to think bad design.

I could go on but I hope that this rant will allow me to begin the healing I feel necessary after this most unfortunate assualt on my personal driving experience.

To think that GM could drop the Bonneville is just too painful to comprehend!!!!!

The placement of Cruise Control is borrowed from Mercedes-Benz. Since it'* now Daimler-Ch..., they share certain things.

My mom has a 1998 Mercedes SLK, and that'* where the Cruise is. I'm not a big fan of it, either.

isn't the base engine a 3.5 from the old 300m'*? they must be alot heavier, its no "hemi" but the old 300'* were decent. Not sure on the styling, it takes a while for cars to grow on me. i didn't like the 2k ssei'* at first (backs) hated monte carlo'* (2k+'*) both which i like alot now, even the new grand prix'* are starting to grow on me, maybe

i gotta hand dodge the best station wagon award though....that new magnum is awesome!!.
