Is it true. I don't think it can be... What are the facts?

Mine retracts inbetween the roof and the headliner... I would imagine that you might loose an inch at most, but I don't have anything to compare to...

you may have been mistaken because it also tilts up so it may appear as it retracts out.

GP sunroofs retract above the roof. There are quite a few other vehicles that I have been in that do the same, just not my Bravada or Bonneville.

the 00+ models have less headroom than the 92-99'* but there'* still enough. I'm 6'1" and my head doesn't touch the roof or anything, there'* still plenty of room. (we have sunroofs in all our Bonnevilles and the Aurora'*.) I've never been in a 00+ without one yet so I'm not exactly sure just how much headroom you lose.
