Default 2001 Bonneville no start

2001 Bonneville 150,000 mi
Started it Friday and let it warm up. Got in and backed out of the driveway and it seemed to have a miss. Started driving down the street and the check engine light started flashing. Not the check engine light that shows a code is stored but the one to the left that comes on when you start the car. Drove it back home and left it overnight. Went to start it and check for codes, but it would turn over but not start and no codes stored. I think the fuel pump ran. Any ideas?

I see from my member info that I have not thanked anyone. What is the proper way to thank someone? I have put thanks in previous posts.

How'* your coolant level? Both the reservoir and radiator?

Mike, thanks for replying. I have a leak in the heater core, so I have to keep adding coolant. The reservoir is full, and so is the radiator.

Check engine light is an indication of a severe misfire. Meaning, it wanted you to shut the engine off.

What do you know of the maintenance history?

How long since the last tune up and do you know when the last time the upper/lower-manifold gaskets have been changed?

A sudden misfire condition such as what you have described is an indication that the engine is possibly drinking some coolant. Which always leads to a misfire/engine stumble, hard starting/no starting and worse, hydrolock.

Oil change 1000 miles ago, new valve cover gaskets, spark plugs and wires about 4000 miles ago.

OK, we can at least rule out plugs and wires.

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn on the power to ON?

If so, can you test the fuel pressure at the rail?
