New GM Recall coming soon, Intermediate shaft
Spoke with a service manager today. He said GM is working on a replacement Intermediate shaft for th "Lube" fix. It will be a recall on several million GM models. Does not know when but received the bulleting from GM last week.

Can't wait to get the official word!
Just got my car back last week from the dealer that I bought it from. Even though I printed out the threads outlining the fact that it was the intermediate shaft and that the lube job was no longer recognized by Pontiac as a permanent solution, and told them exactly what part number needed to be ordered, the bastards said all I needed was a new boot and fresh grease.
I hate this dealer'* service dept and wish I could go elsewhere for warranty work. This is the same dealer that charged me $470 to replace the warped front rotors even though the car only had 22k mi. Luckily, I called Pontiac Customer Service and got them to issue a refund.
I will be first in line when this becomes official.
Thanks

The dealership here already has the updated intermediate shaft and has been replacing them, but at the customer'* cost. The guy there told me to call GM and demand that they pay for it. Here'* the thread:

Definitely let us know as soon as you know the final word.

well based on this I just canceled a service appt to have the int shaft lubed (which I'd scheduled based on recommendations from other fine folks on here).
Would this recall apply to 2000 model year? do you have to be original owner? or anyone who has the pleasure of owning these otherwise great cars would benefit?
sorry if this was answered already!
