Default Traction Control Question

ok, if I accelerate and get the tires spinning (which is easy seeming how there'* snow on the ground) my "trac activated" light stays on, on my dash until I let off of the gas. I can also feel a reduction of power while it'* on. (even though my tires aren't spinning anymore) If I let off the gas completely then try accelerating again the light goes off. Sometimes it'll stay on throughout the acceleration up to 55 MPH and even when I'm keeping a steady speed... Ideas?

also, I've noticed that when I turn my traction control off, it will allow me to spin the tires indefinately without kicking back on. I tried it on some very slick ice to just try it. I didn't let the tires spin any faster than 25 MPH.. I sustained this for about 10-15 seconds and the traction control did not turn itself back on. Wonder if my car is different than the Bonnevilles in that aspect?

I should think the Bonnevilles have the same principals applied to Traction Control as your car. The 2000+ Bonnevilles have a LOW TRAC indicator on the instrument cluster, which I think may be equivalent to your "trac activated" light. When drive wheel slip is detected with brakes not applied, the EBCM will enter traction control mode. EBCM communicates this to the PCM, the PCM in turn reduces torque by retarding timing, and turning off fuel injectors. If engine torque reduction does not eliminate wheel slip, the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) will actively apply the drive wheel brakes as required. I'm not sure, but when the traction control is turned off, it will remain off regardless of wheel slip. As far as accelerating to 55mph and it seems traction control is still active seems to be a problem. There are no DTCs set?

when traction control is off, the stabilitrak (wich apply controlled brake) is still operating)

I tried and my "low trac" light turn off as soon as i get traction, anytime.

You can option to turn Trac Control off on the bonnes, but the PCM[stock] has a limiter even with it off to reduce higher RPMs with wheel spin so as not to burn the tranny after an extended period[not sure on exact seconds]. Ive turned it off before, and even with it off, with the stock pcm, the comp would kill power if the rpms reached a certain degree.

Guess I just wasn't revving it high enough to get the TC to kick back on then. I didn't go over 3,000 RPM. Torque management is an odd thing though. I can sometimes distinctly feel it on downshifts under heavy throttle. I'll hammer it and it'll downshift and the power will take a second or two to fully kick in after the shift. It'* an odd feeling definately.
